To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in forested areas of sub-Saharan Africa by all or any of the following;
- by promoting biological diversity through education and training in sustainable resource use and land-use practices in forest communities,
- by promoting technologies and systems that enable the sustainable use of timber and non-timber forest products,
- by promoting alternative livelihood strategies for forest dwellers,
- by raising awareness of the importance of conservation and protection of forests in sub-Saharan Africa in the international community.
